Sikia is one of two full-service restaurants managed and operated by Washburne Culinary Institute. Sikia features a rotating menu that highlights the variety of cuisines and cultures students study while enrolled in the culinary program.
All of the food is prepared and served by senior-level Washburne Culinary students. Students working in Sikia are able to further their expertise in menu planning, food preparation and cooking, as well as gain essential front-of-the-house service skills. Sikia is the final class before the students graduate and launch their culinary careers.
Sikia Restaurant features:
- Contemporary cuisine prepared by senior-level Washburne Culinary Institute students
- Reasonably priced menus
- A serene, streamlined decor featuring unique African artwork
Sikia is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m and 5pm-7pm for the Spring 2017 semester. During the Summer 2017 semester, it will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Reservations are strongly recommended; please call 773.602.5200.
Sikia’s dining room is often filled to capacity and a reservation is the best way to be certain that you will be able to dine with us; walk-ins are not always able to be accommodated.
Because Sikia operates on the school schedule with students in the Restaurant Service class, it is periodically closed for classroom activities and as the semesters change. All guests are encouraged to call and make reservations prior to arriving to ensure that the dining room is open when they would like to visit.
Sikia’s last week of service for the Spring 2017 semester is April 21, 2017. We will be re-opening for the Summer 2017 semester on May 31. Thank you for supporting the culinary students. We look forward to your visit!
